Hauntingly beautiful meditation of a catastrophe // Schmerzlich schöne Betrachtung einer Katastrophe
"Falling Man" is inspired by the series of photographs by Richard Drew, which captures a man falling from the World Trade Center on 11th September 2001. The photo proved controversial in the wake of the attacks as many people thought the photo was disrespectful of the dead. However, the photographer countered that he was capturing a moment in the man's life. 'I didn't capture this person's death. I captured part of his life. This is what he decided to do and I think I preserved that.'
"Falling Man" was presented at the Cunningham Studios in New York in April 2011 and at the 2011 Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
