Angelika Thiele

Angelika Thiele is a contemporary dancer, performer, teacher and choreographer, now based in Berlin.

 

She received her dance education in New York City. Apart from many national and international freelance productions, she became a member of the Cobosmika.Company (Spain), the Staatstheater Kassel and Oldenburg, Theater Osnabrück and Theater Freiburg/Heidelberg (pvc).

 

Angelika has worked with choreographers and directors such as Marco Santi, Jan Pusch, Ana Mondini, Club Guy&Roni, Rami Beér, Eun-Me Ahn, Christoph Winkler, Tom Schneider, Christoph Frick, Gavin Webber, Toula Limnaios, Vera Sander, Martin Stiefermann, Clint Lutes, Tommy Noonan, Murielle Elizéon and Pia Donkel. Since 2009, she is additionally teaching training for professional dancers (classical ballet for contemporary dancers and contemporary dance technique) in open studios or theater companies.

 

In the summer 2011, Angelika received the DanceWEB scholarship of the Impulstanz-Festival Vienna under the mentoring of Boyzie Cekwana (South Africa) and Isabelle Schad (Berlin). Angelika became interested in Argentinian Tango while working on a contemporary Tango piece with choreographer Ana Mondini in Kassel 2003. She started to intensify studying and dancing Tango in 2009, after meeting her colleague, contemporary dancer, choreographer, teacher and Tango dancer Murielle Elizéon in Theater Freiburg.

 

Murielle and Angelika are working and teaching together since 2010. They are researching on the social context, themes and codes of Argentinian Tango for contemporary performance (more than its aesthetic form), as well as on finding the physical form in Tango through bodywork,- and movement principles of contemporary dance. Angelika loves to do Aikido and is at present completing an education to become a professional shiatsu practitioner
