La Macana

La Macana is a company based in Galicia (Spain) founded in 2009. It arises from the hand of the creators and performers Caterina Varela (A Coruña, Spain, 1983) and Alexis Fernández (Santiago de Cuba, 1975), who after working together in different companies decided to go their own creative way.

The first work they created for their company VEN was premiered in Cuba and won the 1st Prize, Audience Award and Critics Award in Certamen Coreográfico de Madrid. Since then they have collaborated with various artists such as EMBER (Laura Aris and Jorge Jáuregui), Julio César Iglesias and the Swedish company MEMORY WAX.
