Gretchen Blegen

(curator)

Gretchen Blegen is a visual artist, longtime supporter of books and a curator of dance and performance based in Berlin.

After studying fine art at Colorado State University and taking summer courses at the Universität der Künste in Berlin, she relocated to Germany in 2011 in order to start a new chapter.  With a focus on books as a medium and praxis, and installation art as a form of interaction, she has exhibited her visual work in Peru, China, Portugal, Italy, Germany and in the United States.  Since her move to Berlin, she has become intimately involved with many organizations and spaces focused around experimental music, performance art and dance where she assists and occasionally gives workshops.  In the fall of 2013 she founded a small series around movement, sound and presence in the humble abode of ausland-berlin called Place Rhythm. Pulse.

Gretchen experienced her first LUCKY TRIMMER in the spring of 2012 and was struck by the curious and playful, yet elegant and honest nature of LUCKY TRIMMER not only as a performance series but also as a organizational structure.  With heartfelt enthusiasm she has returned every six months since that charming spring and is now happy to help in new and evolving ways.
