Irene Cortina González

Irene Cortina González graduated in Contemporary Dance at the Conservatorio Profesional in Valencia and obtained a Bachelor in Dance at the ArtEZ Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in The Netherlands.

Currently living in Berlin, Irene works as a dancer, choreographer and teacher.

As dancer she is currently working for the Croatian director Irena Curik, with the piece "Replacements for years of refusal" performing in Salzburg and Zagreb.

As a choreographer she has created different solo works as well as group pieces that have been performed in Holland, Germany and Spain over the last 3 years. Improvisation is a very important tool in her work; which is, in most cases, used on stage by the dancers and musicians. She is interested in clarity, precision and significance in movement. She also enjoys working with space, composition and images.
