Florence Freitag

(Curator)

Florence Freitag is working with moving images and moving bodies as director and videodance artist, performer and curator. She received an MA in Film and Audiovisual Media-Culture with a thesis guided by Maya Deren’s "choreo-cinéma" and her voodooist presence and is trained in Dance between France and Germany. Currently based in Berlin, she is inspired by continuity, haptic kinesthetics, everyday gestures and by hybrid, multidisciplinary approaches. She is drawn to and involved in divers collaborative and ongoing processes, exchanging with artists from the fine and visual arts and music, and collaborating in research and practice based videodance, e.g. facilitating the camera-body-eye together with dancer/multimedia artist Camille Jemelen.

Florence also works as performer, as videoeditor for the journalistic platform „Neuköllner“, as text and image advisor for freelance projects, curator of a screening series, lecturer (e.g. at Bauhaus-University Weimar) and writer (e.g. International Journal for Screendance). Her last videodance-trilogy (2015) with DOP Johannes Plank has been shown internationally a.o. in England, Brazil, France, Poland, Finland, Germany, Greece or Portugal.

The festivals 10th anniversary in 2014 was not only the occasion to get free birthday cake but also to be taken for the first time by the humor, openness and professionalism of the festival and the thought that the LUCKY Team must be some LUCKY TRIMMERs.
