The Niños Foundation

Its mission:

The Foundation gives direct help to extremely neglected children in Peru. The Niños Foundation works from the following philosophy: “Niños wants to give the children back the opportunities which they were denied or which were taken away from them. The aim is to give children or give them back the feeling and belief that they are valuable and appreciated people, simply because they have as much right to that feeling as everyone else”.

In addition to attention to the children, the Niños Foundation also wishes to commit itself to the local economy and population. Since 1996 the Niños Foundation has completed 10 large building projects. The Niños Hotels/Hacienda and the Niños Children’s restaurants were built including all the accompanying facilities. The building projects provided employment for two and half years to 150 builders and almost all the materials were bought locally, so the investments were almost completely to the benefit of the local economy. The Niños Foundation employs more than 80 Peruvian men and women. Each employee working for the Foundation receives a salary for this and is therefore able or better able to provide for their own needs or their own family’s needs and to create better prospects for the future.
